Station Casinos officials have not determined when it will develop a new gaming facility, but earlier this week it filed an application for a special use permit to build a casino and entertainment facility on the approximately eight-acre parcel it owns on South Virginia Street across from the Convention Center. The recent expansion and diversification of Northern Nevada's economy has renewed the company's interest in developing a gaming property in the Reno-Sparks market.' 'Like many Nevada businesses, however, the economic downturn required the company to alter and delay its plans. 'Over a decade ago, the company made significant land purchases in the south Truckee Meadows and near the Reno-Sparks Convention Center, with the intent of entering the Reno gaming market,' the release states.
